3.0 RELEASE NOTES

This Readme.txt applies to the Dual Serial I/O Installation CD
133 A version of software contained on the disk.

3.1 Hi-Speed COM Tools information

Sockets Hi-Speed COM Tools for Windows CE has two
main screens, Ports and Advanced, and one optional
screen, OS Configuration if you happen to have an older
serial card that needs to be reconfigured. (Older serial
cards will not work with the Hi-speed software). When using
the Hi-Speed serial card, the Ports screen allows you to
identify the COM port number(s) assigned to your Dual
Serial I/O (D-I/O) Card. You can use the Advanced
screen to program a device to work at non-standard
baud rates (up to 921 kbps with the Hi-Speed serial
card) not normally available in Windows CE applications.

The Hi-Speed Dual Serial Cards can be identified by the rev
letter on the back of the card. The following cards are
Hi-Speed Dual Serial Cards and are capable of transmitting
data up to 921 Kbps.

   PC Card with Removable Cable
   8510-00054 Rev K or later
   8010-00057 Rev K or later

   PC Card with Ruggedized cable
   8510-00092 Rev F or later
   8510-00182 Rev F or later
   8510-00077 Rev F or later

Dual I/O serial Hi-Speed drivers.

3.3 Setup Center Install Process:

For Windows Internet Explorer Users - When prompted with the
option during the install process in the "File Download" window
to either:

"Run this program from its current location"
or
"Save this program to disk"

You MUST select "Run this program from its current location"
or "Open" for the installation process to run without errors.

Do NOT select "Save this program to disk".

When the "Security Warning" window appears, click Yes to
continue.

If you use Netscape you have the following options:

a) Close your Netscape browser and use Windows Explorer to
browse to the root of the CD and manually launch SETUP.htm and
then follow the instructions provided in the Dual Serial Setup
Center.
or
b) Exit the Setup Center, browse the CD to the WinCE_Hi_Speed
directory and manually launch the SETUP.htm file found in this
directory (not the SETUP.EXE at the root)

3.4 Using More than one Socket Serial Product

If you happen to have more than one of the following Socket
products that include the Hi-Speed COM Tools, you must install
the software related to each product. To ensure that you have
available the latest version of the Hi-Speed COM Tools, install
the most updated software version last.

         Hi-Speed Serial I/O Card
         Hi-Speed Dual Serial I/O Card
         Hi-Speed Quad Serial I/O Card
         Hi-Speed Digital Phone Card

Whatever software is installed last will override the
previously installed Hi-Speed COM Tools software. Any
enhancements or updates included in the latest version of the
software will be available to the user when installed.

However, if you install an older software version on top of
the most updated version of software, the old software will
override and whatever was offered in the latest version for
Hi-Speed COM Tools will not be available. Each of the above
products will work as long as you install the corresponding
software.

To determine which software is the latest, refer to the
Readme. The Readme will include the Rev letter and date.

3.5 Using the Hi-Speed Dual Serial Card with an Older I/O Card

In some situations, the Hi-Speed Dual Serial card may not work
with an older serial I/O card simultaneously.

Option 2: To Uninstall from your Host PC
If your Windows CE device is currently connected to your

       removed from your Host PC.

Regardless of which of these two methods you use to uninstall
the Dual Serial I/O Software, you will be able to re-install
the software on your Windows CE device by simply going back
into Microsoft ActiveSync, TOOLS, ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS window,
and select the check box for desired application.

Option 3: To completely uninstall the Dual Serial IO software
